Raising the Next Generation in the Kitchen

This week was my daughter's Spring Break, and it was a pretty low key week at home for her, since I was in school. She wanted to help out by making dinner one night and settled on Butter Chicken. We found this slow cooker recipe that seemed relatively simple, and I made sure I was nearby to answer in questions she had.

This isn't a complete dump and go slow cooker recipe, but the first steps aren't too difficult. We started with already chopped onion and dried garlic to save her a few steps. Then she added the sauce ingredients and they quickly came to a boil. We actually left the spices as is, but used regular flour instead of whole wheat. The coconut milk did it's usual separation thing, so it took a bit to incorporate it in, but it wasn't too difficult. From there she added the sauce over the chicken and let it cook all afternoon.

She served it over baked rice, with Stonefire Naan, and it was so yummy! We did have a fun family convo about what makes it butter chicken since there's actually no butter. The best part of this dinner was my kiddo learning a new skill and working alongside her in the kitchen.

This is so cute! I love cooking with my family! Over the weekend, I made lemon bars with my nieces and it was stressful but fun. They enjoyed it and they learned to make something new! My youngest niece also learned that lemons are not oranges and do not taste like oranges. It was a funny experience for everyone!

I'm not always the best at sharing my kitchen, but this went smoothly with no hiccups, so it was a good experience for both of us. :)
