Marshmallows and Bucket Lists

We usually make a summer bucket list.  Nothing fancy, just mostly a list of reminders so that we don't get to one week before school saying, "we never..."  Often there's a food related bucket list item or two, and that's one of the first things we tackled this year.

On a Kid's Baking Championship episode this spring, one of the contestants made her own marshmallows and fondant, so we are going to try to do both of those.  We started with marshmallows using Alton Brown's recipe.

It's a relatively simple recipe.  The trickiest part was getting them dusted with enough powdered sugar/cornstarch mixture to be easily cut.  We also learned that it doesn't pay to rush the setting up process.

Even with the work of cutting and dusting, they are so worth it.  Absolutely delicious and melty.  I can't stop eating them!  If you've still got room on your bucket list, I highly recommend adding marshmallow making to it!
