Right out of the gate I had to make a switch up on this recipe. My grocery store did not have the crescent sheets in stock, and I wasn't about to mess with the individual rolls and keeping those seams together. So, I grabbed a can of Grands Biscuits instead. Dough is dough right? I stretched each biscuit so that it covered the bottom and sides of each muffin spot. For our toppings, I started with cheddar cheese in the first layer, then sauce, cooked sausage, a tiny bit of cooked bacon, and mini pepperoni. I added mozzarella and Parmesan cheese to the top along with a light sprinkle of Italian seasoning and garlic powder.
These worked so well, and were easy enough to eat by picking them up. The biscuit dough probably made the crust part a little sturdier, which worked in our favor. These would be fun for tailgating or watching a game with friends. They're totally customizable to your taste, but familiar enough everyone will love them.
