Belly. Flop.

There are some days when even the best recipes aren't all they are cracked up to be.

We tried to persevere and finish these Barbecue Pork Chops with Potatoes, Carrots and Onions, but we couldn't.  None of us got past the first few bites.  I am not an advocate of waste, but something was not right in this recipe, and that was it for this dish.

Our list of gripes?

  • It was very tangy--like tongue-tingling tangy.  Maybe it was the Coke?
  • The tomato was overpowering.  Not much barbecue and a whole lot of ketchup flavor.
  • The pork chops tasted like a potato gone bad.  Now, mind you, the potatoes tasted fine.  Go figure.
  • The pork was dry, and that never happens with low and slow in lots of sauce in the crockpot.

So, for all the wonderful recipes that turn out, there are some that don't.  I guess I was do for a flop. A big one.
