Bow Tie Dinner


I ended up doing a switcheroo from our regular menu this week.  I'm not sure why exactly, but I know there was a reason.

It ended up being a good decision.  We all really enjoyed these Ham & Cheese Bowties.  I ended up using sharp cheddar cheese, plus a dash of Colby-jack, and topped with Parmesan.  I also tossed a little bit of onion powder into the mix, since I really like onion flavor in mac and cheese type dishes.  At first I was concerned that the garlic in the mix would give me still another noodles and white sauce version, but even though I could really smell the garlic while the dish was baking, it did not dominate the flavor while eating.  Instead it turned out to be a delicious, rich mac & cheese.  Very good, and definitely a good switch!
