Last Wednesday was my last Awana dinner night for this club year. It ended much like the year started - forgetting an item and having to return home to get it and food spilling during transport. I still think it was a worthwhile effort for the year, though.
Anywho, I chose this recipe for Slow-Cooked Shredded Beef Tacos that I had saved from an Ortega ad some time ago. The meat was very tasty and would be really easy to prepare if you wanted to make tacos for a crowd.
As recipes go, though, it hardly qualifies. It just doesn't seem like you do enough to count as cooking. I did not add the taco sauce and chiles--I was concerned about the heat level (we don't tolerate a lot of spice) and there was so much liquid on the beef anyway. I didn't want to add more.
In preparing this post and digging up the recipe, I also learned what a great selection of recipes Ortega has on the company's site. I will be revisiting them when it comes time to menu plan. Especially next month for Cinco de Mayo!
